Connect ConnectWise PSA
Sync companies, sites, contacts and configurations from ConnectWise PSA (Manage).
This guide connects ConnectWise PSA so Knowpoint can read your companies, sites, contacts and configurations. Knowpoint only reads from ConnectWise. It never changes anything there.
1. Create an API member in ConnectWise
- In ConnectWise, go to System β Members β API Members and add a new API member, for example Knowpoint.
- Give it a security role that can read companies, contacts and configurations, and a location and business unit.
- Save, open the API Keys tab and generate a new key. Copy the public key and private key. The private key is only shown once.
2. Get a client ID
ConnectWise requires a client ID for every integration. Sign in at developer.connectwise.com, register an application and copy its client ID.
3. Connect in Knowpoint
Go to Admin β PSA & RMM sync β ConnectWise PSA and fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| API site | Your ConnectWise API address, such as api-na.myconnectwise.net, api-eu.myconnectwise.net or api-au.myconnectwise.net, or your own server's address if you host ConnectWise yourself |
| Company ID | The company ID you type when signing in to ConnectWise |
| Public key / Private key | From step 1 |
| Client ID | From step 2 |
| Only companies of this type | Optional, such as Client. Leave empty to sync every active company. |
Choose Save and continue, then Test connection. You should see "Connected to ConnectWise" and its version.
What's synced
| From ConnectWise | Into Knowpoint |
|---|---|
| Companies (not deleted) | Organizations, with phone and website |
| Sites (active) | Locations, with address and phone |
| Contacts (active) | Contacts, with title, email, phone and mobile |
| Configurations (active) | Assets, by configuration type, with serial number, model, manufacturer, OS, IP, warranty and contact |
The configuration type decides the asset type: names containing Server become Servers, Workstation, Laptop or Desktop become Workstations, Switch, Router or Access point become Network Devices, and so on.
Troubleshooting
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| HTTP 401 | The company ID, public key or private key is wrong. Generate a new key if you're not sure. |
| HTTP 403 | The API member's security role can't read companies, contacts or configurations. |
| Can't find β¦ | Check the API site address. Use the API address (api-β¦), not the one you sign in on. |
See PSA & RMM sync for matching companies, scheduling and what a sync changes.
Tip: ConnectWise can also receive tickets from Knowpoint alerts. That's set up separately, as an alert channel.
