Domain & SSL tracker

Track domain registrations, DNS and certificates automatically, and never be surprised by an expiry.

Enter a domain and Knowpoint looks up everything about it, keeps it up to date, and tells you when something changes or is about to expire.

Add domains

  1. Open the organization, then the Domains tab. Or use Domains & SSL in the sidebar and choose the organization.
  2. Under Track domains, enter one or more domains, one per line (up to 20 at a time). You can paste URLs or email addresses too, and Knowpoint works out the domain.
  3. Choose Add and look up.

What Knowpoint finds

Section Details
Registration Registrar, registration and expiry dates, nameservers and status, from RDAP (falling back to WHOIS). Warns if there's no transfer lock.
SSL certificates Issuer, expiry and whether the certificate is trusted, for the domain, www, and any other hosts you list
DNS records A, AAAA, MX, NS, TXT, CAA and SOA, plus www and DMARC
Email security SPF and DMARC at a glance
History Every change found: DNS records, registrar, nameservers, renewals and replaced certificates

Keeping it up to date

Domains are re-checked in the background, every 24 hours by default. Admins can change this in Admin β†’ General. Choose ↻ Refresh now on a domain to check straight away.

Each change is recorded in the domain's history and in the audit log. You can be alerted about changes with a Domain or certificate changed notification rule.

Domain settings

On the domain's page, under Settings:

  • Check automatically: turn background checks on or off for this domain.
  • SSL hosts: other hosts to check certificates on, separated by commas. A bare name like portal means portal.yourdomain.com.
  • Expiry date: filled in automatically. Set it yourself if the registry doesn't publish it.
  • Registrar and Notes: for example who pays for the domain and where it's managed.

Expirations

Domain and certificate expiry dates appear on the dashboard's Expiring list and the organization's Overview. To be alerted, for example at 30, 7 and 1 days before, set up a Something is expiring rule. See Notifications and alert rules.
