Browser extension

Search, ask Knowa, copy the passwords for the site you're on, and see the client behind a PSA ticket, from any tab in Chrome or Edge.

The Knowpoint extension adds a side panel to Chrome and Microsoft Edge, so your documentation is one click away in any tab.

What it does

  • This page: shows the passwords saved for the site you're on. Select Copy to copy one, or the πŸ‘€ button to copy its username. If it has a one-time code, the 123 button copies the current code.
  • Client context: open a ticket in ConnectWise PSA or HaloPSA, or a device in NinjaOne, and the panel shows which client it's for. You see their quick notes, main contacts, recent documents and counts, with links into Knowpoint.
  • Search: everything you can search in Knowpoint, from the side panel.
  • Ask Knowa: ask a question without leaving the page. If the panel has recognised a client, Knowa starts with that client in mind. Each chat is saved with your other Knowa conversations.

Install and connect

  1. Install Knowpoint from the Chrome Web Store (it works in Edge too). Pin it to your toolbar if you like.
  2. Select the Knowpoint button, or press Alt+Shift+K, to open the side panel.
  3. Enter your workspace address, for example yourcompany.knowpoint.io, and select Connect.
  4. Your browser asks to let the extension reach that address. Select Allow.
  5. Sign in to Knowpoint as usual, with your password, two-factor code or Microsoft account, and select Connect.

What it can see

The extension acts as you, and only ever sees what you can see in Knowpoint: your organizations, items you've been given access to, and passwords only if your role allows it.

  • Copying a password counts as revealing it. Each copy is recorded in the audit log, and counts towards the Unusual password access alert.
  • It never stores password values. It asks Knowpoint for a value only when you select Copy, and puts it straight on your clipboard.
  • Your IP allowlist applies. If your workspace only allows certain networks, the extension only works from those networks, like the app.

Privacy: what leaves your browser

The extension is built to send Knowpoint as little as possible:

  • On most sites: only the site's host name, such as admin.microsoft.com, so it can find saved passwords. It doesn't send the full address, page content or browsing history.
  • On your connected PSA and RMM sites only (the ConnectWise, Halo or NinjaOne address set up in Admin β†’ Integrations): the page address and title, so it can work out which client a ticket or device belongs to. Knowpoint may ask your PSA which company a ticket belongs to, using the integration's existing access.
  • When you use Search or Ask Knowa: what you type.

It sends nothing at all until you open the side panel, and only to your own workspace's address. It doesn't use analytics or tracking, and nothing goes to anyone else.

Staying signed in

The extension stays connected for up to 6 months. It disconnects sooner if:

  • you don't use it for 30 days
  • you select β‹― β†’ Disconnect in the panel
  • you disconnect it from your Profile β†’ Browser extension
  • you change your password
  • an admin disconnects it, deactivates your account or turns the extension off

For admins

  • Turn it on or off: Admin β†’ General β†’ Browser extension. It's on by default. Turning it off stops every connected extension straight away.
  • See who's connected: each person's page in Admin β†’ Users lists their connected browsers, with Disconnect all.
  • Audit log: connecting, disconnecting and every password copy are recorded.
  • Ticket matching: works for organizations matched to PSA companies in Admin β†’ Integrations. If a ticket can't be matched, the panel looks for a client name in the page title.

Troubleshooting

  • "Connecting was cancelled, or the workspace address is wrong": check the address in your browser's address bar when you use Knowpoint, and try again.
  • No passwords show for a site: the password's URL in Knowpoint needs to match the site. A password saved for example.com shows on example.com and its subdomains, such as portal.example.com.
  • The client doesn't show on a ticket: make sure the PSA is connected in Admin β†’ Integrations and its companies are matched to organizations.
